If I Say It's a GIven In My Blog. It's a given in my blog. .

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "It's Karma":

"Surely not about demolition of old cast off, useless buildings. That's a given."

It is? Not with everyone, Councillor.

************

It is with me and as far as I am concerned should be with anyone who understands the town's business and is accountable to the people who pay the bills. .

I write this Blog.  I am letting everyone know where I stand on this issue.

The person commenting is the reason the  decision to demolish the buildings is  so long  outstanding. Because of political   fear of  controversy.

Councillor Gaertner  regularly intones it's Council's job to do what people want.

That's how we got chicanes and closed off streets and a nightmare traffic pattern in the north west quadrant, at huge expense to the rest of us, only to be told we  should have no say if we don't live in the neighborhood and a host of other cockamamie decisions that pandered to vested interests.

Well, I am a people too. I don't stand for Council so that others  can tell me what to think. I am ready to listen but  I stand, so that I can  tell  what I think.  Getting elected means other people want me to do  what I do. How can it be otherwise?.

If I say it's a given that's what I mean.

The Seniors'  Association was the reason the old library wasn't demolished when it was vacated. Council was being lobbied to transfer  the club  into the library.

Insufficient parking was  provided for the new  library and the two meeting rooms it holds.  The old building could not be re-adapted because of the nature of its construction  But the decision to demolish was postponed  because of the seniors and has never been faced up to since. .

The town built the Seniors a new facility. They didn't ask for it. They have been content with  cast-offs ever since the Association  was formed.  Numbers and  service  have tremendously improved. The building has given many people a new lease on life.

I am in favour of that.

It was the right decision.

There were people who did not approve then too . There always are.  Parking is a problem there as well.

Now we must  grapple with the  naysayers once again.

Not before time.

Ya  wanna a piece of me.  Name your weapons.
